THE HISTORY

The origin of the name “Calle Cavanella”:

The description of the S. Giovanni Nuovo district, written in 1713, when illustrating the houses it defines them as «alla Cavanella». It is believed that in the canal next to the calle there was a small «cavana», a covered shelter for boats, that gave name to the street. In the past there were a lot of «cavane» in the City’s canals, as described in the Tentori’s: «Della Legislazione Veneziana sulla preservazione delle Lagune, Venezia 1792».

To cultivate the bond with our tradition and history, we called each room with the name of a typical boat used before the advent of the engine, to give you the experience of a Venice outside the box.

Our rooms have been completely renovated (works ended in February 2020) to give our guests an ever before stay in Venice.
